John Bryan State Park

John Bryan-One of the MOST AWESOME State Parks around!!
Ever been camping before?! Maybe at John Bryan State Park in Yellow Springs, Ohio? Well if not, I'd like to make the first recommendation to go!
Above is a image of the John Bryan State Park sign. Originally founded in 1849, John Bryan has so many things to offer from land to fishing to just a fun day of hiking! Before you go, you can check out everything there is t do at http://www.johnbryan.org/.
John Bryan has over 300 square acres of land and over 5 one mile long trails! However, before you go, make sure to wear long paints because there is poison ivy around the woods and probably some old tennis shoes, hiking boots or crocks for the rugged terrain! From my previous experience of biking to John Bryan, I will say this-Its a very relaxing ride but also very long! John Bryan is about 23 miles from the Dayton Area.

Above is a map of a pathway to get from the Dayton area to the John Bryan state park.
In order to get to John Bryan, its actually quite simple. First you would take woodman drive to the Iron horse trail. after that, you would jump on the creek side trail and take it for a little while until you get to the Ohio bicycle Route. After that, you would get onto the Little Miami Scenic trail. Finally, you would jump onto the Ohio Bicycle route 3 trail and then your there! If you need a extra referral, just go to https://www.google.com/maps for any help!

So our actual trip distance there and back was about 25 miles because of things like rest breaks and lunch.  The trip in of itself was not that bad, because during the STEMmersion we had been building up to that distance.  And once we actually got there it was the greatest feeling to know you biked that distance in half a day.
But for my friend and I, and probably everyone else is was the camping that was fun.  Because we were in an area with no wi-fi, we had to be normal kids and think of normal kid stuff to do.  Like, kick a ball, throw a Frisbee, have little competitions, or interact with people in the real world.

Here are a few pictures of the campground and what it was like.  Most of the ground was flat which means that you could put your tent almost anywhere.
For the rest of the night we played games, talked, and some kids went hiking.
For dinner that night there were hamburgers, hot dogs, and chips.  It does not sound like much, but it was good!
And later that nigh we were visited by 1 or 2 little critters, AKA raccoons!

The next morning was cold so we got another little fire going and ate a good nutritious breakfast consisting of Pop-tarts and cereal. :)
There was also some fruit.
The trip back to school was about the same as the one coming from.  We made a few stops and had time for lunch.

Overall I think this trip was one of the better ones, because we got to see a lot more and do a lot more.
